Dr. Brittany Proffitt

Profile
Brittany Proffitt’s research focuses on Ancient Roman material and visual culture, cross-cultural exchange, gender and memory studies, digital humanities, and archaeometric analyses of ancient materials. A member of the Gabii Project since 2017 and the Venus Pompeiana Project since 2022, she has served as a finds lab instructor at both sites, as well as being responsible for studying coinage, wall plaster fragments, and Roman keys across both excavations. In 2025, she participated in the American Numismatic Society’s Eric P. Newman Graduate Seminar in Numismatics, where was entrusted with cataloguing the ANS’ previously uncatalogued collection of pre-Roman Celtiberian coinage.
